U.S. Citizenship Questions

I was asked by a client recently for an advance copy of the civics questions she would be asked at her citizenship interview.  I explained to her that she should expect to receive a copy of the questions with answers at her biometrics appointment.  This is the appointment where USCIS takes your fingerprints for your security background check.  I explained that she would get the questions then and would have about 2 months to study before her interview.  I also explained to her that, while she needed to make sure she studied. she would only need to get 6 out of 10 questions correct in order to pass the interview.

I emailed her the questions.  I was happy that she was taking the matter seriously and wanted to make sure she passed the test.  This was a far cry from a client who I represented several years ago.  I had mailed (see how long ago this was) her the questions (with answers) a few months before the exam.  I had followed up with letters reminding her of her interview and the test and that I would be with her.  I asked her to study the answers to the questions and to call me if she didn’t understand any of the questions.  I also asked her to arrive 30 minutes early for her interview.

It was a good thing that she did arrive early.  She had received my letters but had chosen not to study for the exam at all.  Fortunately, I had brought a copy of the questions and answers with me.  For the next hour and a half we reviewed U.S. civics together.  She knew some things just by living in the United States.  However, other things on the test she was not sure about.  The case was called late (thankfully) and by the time it was called she had, what I thought, was a 50-50 chance of passing.

She was actually very fortunate as she was asked some of the easier questions on the test.  She got the first 6 questions she was asked right and passed that part of the interview.  She also did well on the other portions of the interview.  She is now a U.S. Citizen.

I recommend that, like my current client, if you have a naturalization interview coming up,  you start to study for the exam as soon as possible.

Good luck!

    TEMPORARY VISA

Our experience was amazing. The process was smooth. Larry and Jason helped us every step of the way to get my husband’s temporary visa. When I started getting anxiety about how long it takes, what’s the next step or what if’s, I would call either of them and they had no problems giving me answers. Jason went with us to our meeting with immigration, and made us laugh the whole time. He really helped keep me calm as I suffer from anxiety very badly. A year later, I can still call Larry and ask questions about the next step. I’m very thankful I found these guys!!! Highly recommend them!
