The September 2013 Visa Bulletin has just been published.
The U.S. State Department puts out the visa bulletin each month. Each category of applicants has a cut off date set up by the visa bulletin. If you or a loved one is waiting for a visa you may look at the visa bulletin, determine your category, and then figure out how long you should expect to wait in order to obtain your visa.
This system was designed by the U.S. government to control the amount of visas given out to immigrants each year from various countries.
The categories are split into family-based visas and employment based visas. These 2 broad categories are further divided into sub categories.
China, the Philippines, Mexico, and India are listed separately because of the high demand for visas from those countries. If you or your loved one is based in one of these countries, and you have a pending petition, you should expect to wait a good deal longer for your visa.
Priority dates can and do change. These changes will affect your wait time for your visa. For more information about this process please be sure to read our blog post:
